TECHNOLOGY
As with atmospheric plasma spraying, particles of spray powder are injected into the plasma jet, melted and accelerated towards the workpiece. In case of vacuum deposition, the plasma jet is formed in a low pressure atmosphere. At the beginning of process, the process chamber is evacuated to a pressure level below 0.1 mbar and then filled with argon. This ensures that chemically active gases (oxygen and hydrogen) will not have a negative impact on the subsequent coating process. Due to created atmosphere, the molten metal particles do not oxidize, resulting in a high-purity coating being formed on the surface of workpiece.
