The finishing process can operate in the following modes:
- Dry Processing: This method generates dust. To eliminate dust and regenerate the working environment, machines are equipped with blow-off and suction devices to remove the generated particles.
- Intermittent Solution Feed: The working liquid is supplied periodically.
- Continuous Solution Flow: Liquid is supplied constantly throughout the processing cycle.
Features of Wet Processing
Most vibratory finishing operations are performed with continuous or intermittent supply of a liquid solution (e.g., water + compound).
Functions of the Liquid Solution:
- Removes wear products (metal and abrasive particles) from part surfaces.
- Wets the parts and the media to separate them.
- Ensures even distribution of parts within the media.
- Cools the parts being processed.
Process Intensity Control
- Changing the fluid level in the work bowl.
- Using compounds with various chemical additives possessing specific properties.
Compound Additives Enable:
- Adjustment of the process intensity.
- Improvement of the finishing quality.
